Texas Abstract
4/18 - 5/16/2015
Gallery Sonja Roesch is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring artists from Texas Abstract, an exhibition originating from the fine art book Texas Abstract: Modern + Contemporary, written and curated by art scholars Michael Paglia and Jim Edwards and recently released by Fresco Books. The Texas Abstract had an exhibition at the Galveston Arts Center, and now travels to simultaneous shows of the artists divided between the Gallery Sonja Roesch and Rudolf Blume Fine Art/ArtScan Gallery. The exhibition will open on April 18, 2015, 5 – 7pm.
Texas Abstract examines the extensive role that Texas artists have played in the abstract movement from its beginning in the 1930’s through its various stylistic forms in the 1960’s and continuing on into today’s contemporary art. Featuring the work of over thirty of Texas’ most significant abstract artists, the book and corresponding exhibition presents a stunning range of work within the larger abstract style. The exhibition will be shown in Houston by Gallery Sonja Roesch and Rudolf Blume Fine Art/ArtScan Gallery.
