Myke Venable - Lift Off

August 27th - October 29th, 2022

Gallery Sonja Roesch is pleased to announce the fourth solo exhibition by Texas native Myke Venable. The opening reception will be held on August 27, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, and the exhibition will be on view until October 29, 2022.

Myke Venable created this series of works with a simple thematic perspective in mind: harmony and balance. "One must find harmony within oneself, before finding it outside"; to know the self is the key to unlocking the door to global perspectives.

Titled "Lift Off", this exhibition refers to withdrawing from an old paradigm and shifting into a new way of thinking. The acrylic painted canvases are geometrically centered which lures the viewer into a sense of peace. The balanced works invite a tranquility of mind, drawing out a calming breath or a moment of silence. With these works, Venable sets in motion a fresh outlook for both himself and the viewers.

Myke Venable was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1966 and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from Lamar University. His work is reviewed in “New American Paintings West” Vol. 102 and is featured in collections such as Hess Energy and Puffer Sweiven in Houston, and the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas. His work is traded both in the U.S. and internationally. He has worked in New York and currently lives and works in Houston.
